WordPress wasn’t very flexible with coding, I decided to move the blog to Blogger since that’s the site most of the crafters and Indie Biz ladies use it.

So come over and see the new place: sincerelyraevintage.blogspot.com

Since WordPress has decided to not let me upload photos today, Whimsical Wednesday might be a bit funky, I’m a little rusty with my HTML coding. All those days stealing profile backgrounds from people on Myspace, wasted. =}

This week’s Whimsical Wednesday is “Tea Party” inspired by my new teapot.

Tea fort, anyone?

What is this? a tea cup for ants?

The new Alice in Wonderland movie was so wonderful, as is this idea. Too cute.

And my favorite tea set in all of the universe:

Mrs. Potts and Chip! If I had a dollar for every time I’ve watched Beauty and the Beast…

I’d have quite a few dollars. =/

I hope you had as much fun looking at these as I did collecting them. Tomorrow I’ll tell you all about my amazing vintage finds from today.

This camera  is not one of them, it’s my 10 year old sister-in-law’s new toy. She said she wants to be like me! Her poor parents, =].

Until Tomorrow,

Rachael

Well, this weekend was pretty wonderful. I was a little nostalgic about leaving/loosing my job on Friday, but that was long gone by Saturday morning.  Trey and I went garage saleing with our Superman Coin Bank full of change and spent most of it within 2 miles of our house. But you have to see what we found:

A huge blue metal trunk.

With it, a few books and an adorable photo album with tea cups on it. Also, a set of baby bottles and baby boy t-shirts for my friend’s shower.

Next,

My very first real tea pot! I’ve used it every day since buying it.

A white ceramic vase with a ribbon pattern on it.

The next stop was a moving sale and it was inside the people’s house, which was very dark inside. I picked up an old Polaroid camera up and three women came rushing towards me muttering that it had already been sold (OH-kay, no need to panic ladies). =}

What we did find was pure gold (figuratively):

How often do you run across a Spongebob Squarepants keyboard in mint condition. I simply had to have it.

You’d better believe that I’ll be blogging from this beaut from now on.

Also we found a DVD copy of Aladdin for 5 bucks! Trey keeps a close watch on the amazon prices of all the Disney movies on DVD and this was well below the going rate.

On Sunday, we were heading to the Mexican food place to meet some friends after church and this huge yard sale caught my eye. Found a nice pairs of riding boots for my Mom and a “Dooney & Burke” purse:

I should have known right away that it was a fake. It wasn’t even a “good” fake the emblem was sewn right on in yellow thread.  However, I was rushed and excited to find anything valuable in the pile of purses. Still, it was definitely worth the dollar-fifty I paid for it since It’s leather and in good condition.

Yesterday, I spent the whole day turning in applications and I went to two interviews. I think they went really well so I’m praying I’ll get a call back. There’s only one week left in my school semester, I’m so ready for the break.

I’ll be back tomorrow for Whimsical Wednesday, I think the theme will be “Tea Time”.

Goodnight All!

I was trying to find the perfect song for this post, “Do the Whirlwind” seemed appropriate.

Yesterday, I spent the whole afternoon putting in applications and collecting more to fill out, because today will most likely be my last day of working at my current job. It’s bittersweet really, I’ve wanted to leave this job for quite a while. I really don’t like how the system works in a government job, it’s very bureaucratic. Plus I feel like spending 30 hours a week in the basement of an office building sucked all the creativity out of my soul.  However, I really enjoy a few of the people I work with and It’s going to be sad to have to leave them. Being in the place where laws are made is interesting and exciting some of the time.

It makes me second guess my decision to leave. Knowing that soon I’ll have to work on the weekends, have less hours, and no health benefits is nerve-wreaking. This is the path I’ve chosen and even though it will put me in an uncomfortable situation for a time, I know that once I get through it I’ll be stronger and most likely happier. I have wanted to change jobs for almost 10 months and I need to actually make the move. So here I go.

Here’s some early morning photos of my last day here:

Apologies for the webcam quality ;}

It’s a late post today, because I’ve been busy at work all day, In fact, I’m still at work. Twelve hours and counting.

This week’s WW theme is glamorous singers of decades gone by.  I had to do a little bit of research on this because I’m not very knowledgeable on the subject. but here it is….

1) Judy Garland

The hair, the lips, the dress. This just screams glamor.

Found Here

2) June Carter Cash

June gets two photos because I love her so much, the first song in my wedding was “bridge over trouble water” by Johnny and June. Her music is simple and speaks to me soul.

Found Here and Here

3)Aretha Franklin

Do I really need to say anything?

4) The Go-Go’s

You have to know how much I love the song “we’ve got the beat”. I used to sing it allll the time.

And last but definately not least.

Mr. Frank Sinatra

“Day by day, your making all my dreams come true” I love his songs and I sing them to my Love. =]

Goodnight my friends!

First of all, I would like to thank the makers of the “Netfilx watch instantly on your Wii”  it is, without a doubt, the best game for the Wii console, and I do enjoy it more than I would a Wii Fit.

That being said, today started off rough. I know this blog is not supposed to be my journal, it’s supposed to be an outlet for my creativity, and it’s supposed to be a way to get people interested in my future business. I’ve read the part of my Indie Biz 2.0 class from LA, Elsie and Jill which told me to be positive and all that jazz, not to get my readers bummed. However, to know me and to really “connect” to what is Sincerely Rae, you have to know that being positive is a struggle for me. I’d like to think that I’m an optimist but I have to try, I have to try really hard.

For the name of my business and blog to be true, I have to be SINCERE. Which literally means to be: free of deceit, hypocrisy, or falseness; genuine; real; pure; unmixed; unadulterated. I have to tell you that this endeavor only stems out of the fact that I’ve been at very dark places in my life, I’ve been in holes that I couldn’t dig myself out of. Every effort that I put into this is because I don’t want to be in that hole again. It is through the grace and power of God that I am the person I am today and not a recluse or, worse, dead. I never want any other person to have to feel the way I felt. That’s why I want to show the world a certain light, even if it’s just a cutesy picture or a dress that’s reminiscent of another era. I don’t want my products or my writing to be dark, depressing or angry. The world has enough of that all on its own. If you need a reminder just turn on the news.

So today started off rough, I’m stressed about a lot of things; finals, trying to find time to start this business, finding a new job, and leaving the job I’m at. But when I really stop to look at it, I don’t have to be stressed. It doesn’t help anything. My husband will probably scoff when he reads this because he told me all of that this morning. I get overwhelmed and then I try to make myself the victim and that’s just a little bit ridiculous. I just need to be reminded and to remind myself that worrying about life doesn’t profit anything.

So the reason why I love Netflix and Its instant queue on my Wii is that I watched a movie this afternoon, after school, after random gardening, and while painting my nails these crazy yellow and orange patterns. It’s a documentary called Paper Heart it has Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi in it, this is the plot summery: Charlyne Yi embarks on a quest across America to make a documentary about the one subject she doesn’t fully understand: Love.

She interviews ministers, happily married couples, chemists, romance novelists, divorce lawyers, a whole Harley bar, and a group of children. The movie begins with her saying that she doesn’t believe in love and doesn’t end with her saying she believes in it, but it does make you think. It was amazing to me that the people with the most telling answers about love were the school children and the couples who had been married for a few decades. The school children never even questioned that love exists, that true love is achievable. The married couples said that love is achievable if you work hard enough, if you keep it alive, if you learn to be patient, and if you look past the faults.

This preview doesn’t really do the movie justice either. The movie itself is much more raw and real.

I wonder what would happen if everyone took the time to love a little more, not just romantically but in every form, to love the unlovable or to at least try…

Today is my wonderful Mom’s birthday. I thank God for being born into her family, she is the strongest woman that I know. She can balance so much in her life.  All while being the most loving and caring women to everyone she comes across.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Sincerely,

Rachael

Amazingly, I’m writing this blog early today because I had time between taking my Math test and going to Business law at school. So I’m sitting in the business computer lab, trying not to people watch, and writing to you!

In “honor” of today being a deary and rainy day, I’m making it a positive by dedicating this post to one of my favorite objects: The Umbrella!

I’ve been on a hunt for a clear plastic umbrella for about 3 years, i’ve yet to find one at a reasonable price. This photo is so very adorable, it makes me want to have kids of my own (or maybe just babysit).

Got to run! I have to learn how to defend myself if I get sued.

Now, post Your favorite Umbella themed thing in the comment section!

I still haven’t decided if this title is super corny or not. If you have any opinions or better ideas, Please let me know.

This week’s Whimsical Wednesday is going to be 60’s Mod Style. Here we GO!

1)   This was labeled “Jackie O style pattern” I absolutely love the far right one, especially with florals being big this season.

Found Here

2)   Normally I’m not a huge fan of Twiggy because of how she set the tone for über thin models, which I oppose. However, these pea-coats are so chic.

Found Here

3)   Cher and her bangs. I’ve had this weird interest in Cher ever since the age of 14 when I repeatedly worked out to her aerobics video that my mom owns. let me tell you, there’s nothing better than imagining you’re doing a step class in lace, leather, and spandex. All the while listening to 80’s rock. “yes, Cher, I DO want my gluts to look like yours!” Here’s the link to the VHS.

4)   Love in the Afternoon (1957) – Audrey Hepburn. I know this technically doesn’t count for 60’s mod but how could I resist including Ms. Hepburn? She my favorite actress right now. Quirky, cute, not innocent but not a tramp like Marilyn. ( I might catch heat for that tidbit, but I do not care)

5) Mini linen shift dress! I’d throw on some tights and cute summer flats and go thrifting.
